Why you'll love it
- A cardboard base and bell-shaped dress let her stand on her own.
- Slip stitch hair strands with built-in corkscrew curls look soft and natural.
- Front-loop rounds create a scalloped hem and a frilly collar without separate pieces.
- Embroidered snowflakes make her dress festive and easy to personalize.
- She is a meaningful Christmas gift or a sweet decoration for the mantel.

Gauge & finished measurements
Gauge: 24 sc and 26 rounds = 4 in (10 cm) in DK cotton with a 2.75 mm hook. Base gauge: Rounds 1-11 of the dress measure about 3.5 in (9 cm) across. Tight, even stitches matter more than exact gauge.

Assembly
- 1
Snowflakes: with white, embroider 6 simple snowflakes evenly around the lower skirt between Rounds 18 and 24, using a straight stitch star with small crossbars. Add French knot dots between them.
- 2
Head: center the head on the neck with the face pointing forward and sew it on firmly with the neck tail.
- 3
Hair cap: place the cap on the head with the 18-stitch opening framing the face. Sew around the edge of the cap.
- 4
Hair strands: mark a center part from the front of the crown to the back. Sew 7 strands on each side, starting each straight end at the part and laying it down over the cap to the shoulder. Let the curls hang over the shoulders and back. Tack the strands down along their length so they stay in place.
- 5
Wings: sew the straight edge of each wing to the back of the dress between Rounds 40 and 45, with the two wings almost touching at the center back and the scalloped edges facing out.
- 6
Arms: sew the flat top of each arm to the side of the dress at Rounds 44-45, just below the collar. Bend the arms forward.
- 7
Gift: place the gift box between the hands and sew the hands and box together, then tack the box to the front of the bodice.
- 8
Halo: sew a short loop of gold yarn to the top of the head at the back of the part, and stitch the halo to it so the halo floats just above the head, slightly tilted.
Important notes
- Tip: This is an original pattern inspired by the photo. Hidden construction details, yarn weight, and dimensions are interpreted from the image, and the pattern has not been physically test-crocheted.
- Tip: Abbreviations (US terms): ch = chain, sc = single crochet, hdc = half double crochet, dc = double crochet, sl st = slip stitch, MR = magic ring, BLO = back loop only, dec = decrease (invisible single crochet decrease).
- Tip: Work all round pieces in continuous rounds with a stitch marker. The wings are worked in turned rows; the turning ch 3 counts as a dc and the turning ch 1 does not count as a stitch.
- Tip: Stuff the dress and neck firmly so the angel stands straight and holds up her head.
- Tip: Safety: safety eyes, the pipe cleaner, the cardboard base, and the bead are not suitable for babies or young children. This angel is intended as a decoration.
Pattern FAQ
Can I make her into a tree topper?
Yes. Skip Rounds 1-12 and the cardboard. Start with a chain ring of 66, work Round 12 as sc in each chain, then continue from Round 13. Stuff only the bodice and leave the skirt hollow so it slips over the top branch.
How do I keep the hair strands neat?
Pin all 14 strands in place before sewing, then tack each one down with brown yarn every half inch. Sewing the strands slightly overlapping hides the cap underneath.
Can I skip the pipe cleaner in the halo?
You can crochet the halo as a plain chain ring of 30 with one round of sc, but it will be floppy. Starching it or using the pipe cleaner keeps it round and lets it float above the head.
Can I use acrylic yarn?
Yes. Acrylic is softer and slightly fuzzier, while cotton gives crisper stitches for the embroidery and hair. Choose a hook that makes a tight fabric with no gaps.
How do I clean her?
Because of the cardboard base and pipe cleaner, spot clean with a damp cloth and mild soap, then let her air dry. Do not machine wash.
