    Assembly

    1. 1

Embroidery: with white, work a line of running stitches along the top and bottom edges of the red cup band. With red, embroider small cross stitches every 4 stitches around Round 32 of the cup, every 5 stitches around the saucer edge, and short diagonal dashes along the handle.

    2. 2

Saucer and handle: center the cup on the saucer and sew around the base edge (Round 11) through the saucer top. Sew the curved handle to the side of the cup, with its ends at about Rounds 14 and 29, over the join line.

    3. 3

Stuffing: fill the lower two-thirds of the cup firmly with fiberfill.

    4. 4

Lamb body: set the lamb body into the cup so Rounds 1-14 sit inside and the neck points up. Add stuffing around it until it sits upright.

    5. 5

Cup top ring: place the ring over the gap. Sew its outer edge (Round 6) to the inside of the cup rim, and its inner edge (Round 1) around the lamb body at about Round 15.

    6. 6

Face: sew the muzzle centered below the eyes between Rounds 16 and 21. Add pink satin-stitch cheeks beside the muzzle.

    7. 7

Head: sew the head to the neck with the face pointing forward.

    8. 8

Curls and ears: sew the woolly curl strip around the face, starting at one cheek, running up over the forehead and down to the other cheek. Sew the ears just under the curls at each side at about Rounds 10-13, angled outward and down.

    9. 9

Hat: place the hat on the head tilted slightly to the right so the brim overlaps the top curls. Sew around the inside of the brim. Tack the tip down to the right side and sew on the pompom. Add 2 holly leaves and 3 berries to the brim.

    10. 10

Arms: sew the flat tops of the arms to the sides of the body just below the neck, so the hooves rest over the front of the cup rim.

    11. 11

Scarf: wrap the scarf around the neck with the snowflake end hanging down at the front right. Tack it in place.

    12. 12

Bow: sew the bow to the front of the cup over the red band, with the tails hanging down. Sew 2 holly leaves and 3 berries just above the bow.

    Important notes

    • Tip: This is an original pattern inspired by the photo. Hidden construction details, yarn weight, and dimensions are interpreted from the image, and the pattern has not been physically test-crocheted.
    • Tip: Abbreviations (US terms): ch = chain, sc = single crochet, hdc = half double crochet, dc = double crochet, sl st = slip stitch, MR = magic ring, BLO = back loop only, dec = decrease (invisible single crochet decrease).
    • Tip: The cup and cup top ring are worked in joined rounds; the ch 1 at the start of each round does not count as a stitch. All other round pieces are worked in continuous rounds with a stitch marker.
    • Tip: Stuff the cup, lamb body, and head firmly so the lamb sits upright.
    • Tip: Safety: this is a decorative piece. The safety eyes, cardboard inserts, pipe cleaner, and small parts are not suitable for babies, young children, or pets.

    Pattern FAQ

How does the lamb stay inside the cup?

The lower part of the body sits inside the cup on a bed of stuffing, and the cup top ring is sewn to both the cup rim and the body. That holds the lamb firmly in place and hides the stuffing.

Can I make the cup without the lamb?

Yes. Make the cup, saucer, and handle on their own and leave the cup open to use as a candy dish or decorative holder. You can skip the cardboard in the cup and add a few rounds of sc in BLO inside the rim for a neater edge.

    Can I use acrylic yarn?

Yes. Acrylic is softer and slightly fuzzier, while cotton gives crisper stitches and a firmer cup. Use a hook that gives a tight fabric with no gaps.

My cup is leaning or wobbly. How do I fix it?

Check that the cardboard circle lies flat in the base and that the cup is sewn evenly to the saucer all the way around. Firm, even stuffing in the lower part of the cup also keeps it straight.

    How do I clean it?

Because of the cardboard and pipe cleaner, spot clean with a damp cloth and mild soap, then let it air dry. Do not machine wash.
