Why you'll love it
- Open mesh and textured medallions create a classic vintage look.
- Filet mesh is easy to memorize and quick to work.
- Medallions are small and portable, so you can make them in batches.
- Raised seams outline every square neatly.
- One color means very few yarn changes and ends.

Important notes
- Tip: This is an original pattern inspired by the photo. Hidden details are interpreted from the image, and the pattern has not been physically test-crocheted.
- Tip: Abbreviations (US terms): ch = chain, sc = single crochet, dc = double crochet, sl st = slip stitch.
- Tip: The ch 4 at the start of mesh rows counts as a dc and a ch-1 space. The ch-3 at the start of dc rounds counts as a dc. The ch 1 at the start of sc rounds does not count as a stitch.
- Tip: Keep every square in the same orientation so the side and top stitch counts match when joining.
- Tip: The bedspread border works out evenly when each long edge has an even number of squares.
Pattern FAQ
Why are the side and top counts different?
Mesh rows are worked side to side, so the sides have row ends while the top and bottom have stitches. As long as all squares face the same way, sides always join to sides and tops to bottoms, so the seams still match.
Can I crochet the medallions directly onto the square?
Yes. Instead of sewing, you can work Round 3 of each medallion through both the medallion and the mesh, but sewing gives you more control over placement.
How do I change the size?
Each square adds about 10 in. Use an even number of squares along the long edges so the shell border fits, such as 7 x 10 for a twin or 11 x 10 for a king.
How should I wash it?
Follow the care label on your yarn. Wash it in a large-capacity machine on a gentle cycle in cool water, then lay it flat to dry and reshape the medallions while damp.
