Lacy Bedspread
Queen bedspread approx. 91 x 104 in (231 x 264 cm); each motif approx. 6.5 in (16.5 cm)
Why you'll love it
- Covered chain loops make plump, sculpted petals with a corded outline.
- Neighboring motifs form four-petal flowers where they join.
- Join-as-you-go assembly means no seams to sew at the end.
- The petals create a naturally scalloped edge, so no border is needed.
- Small motifs are portable and quick to make.

Gauge & finished measurements
Gauge: 14 dc and 8 rows = 4 in (10 cm) in worsted yarn with a 5.0 mm hook. Motif gauge: the mesh center measures about 2.75 x 2.5 in (7 x 6.5 cm), and a finished motif measures about 6.5 in (16.5 cm) across from the tip of one petal pair to the opposite one.

Important notes
- Tip: This is an original pattern inspired by the photo. Hidden details are interpreted from the image, and the pattern has not been physically test-crocheted.
- Tip: Abbreviations (US terms): ch = chain, sc = single crochet, dc = double crochet, sl st = slip stitch, BLO = back loop only.
- Tip: The ch 4 at the start of mesh rows counts as a dc and a ch-1 space. The ch 1 at the start of Round 1 does not count as a stitch.
- Tip: Work the motif rounds with the right side facing; do not turn.
- Tip: This is a heavy bedspread in worsted cotton. Support its weight when washing and blocking.
Pattern FAQ
How do the four-petal flowers form?
Each side of a motif has a pair of petals. When two motifs are joined side by side, their petals touch at the tips, and the two pairs together look like a four-petal flower.
Can I use thinner yarn?
Yes. With DK cotton and a 3.5 mm hook, each motif measures about 5 in, so you will need more motifs for the same size. The stitch counts stay the same.
My petals are twisting. How do I fix it?
Make sure each ch-14 loop is not twisted before you slip stitch it closed, and work the covering sc evenly all the way around. Blocking also helps the petals lie flat.
How should I wash it?
Hand wash or machine wash on a gentle cycle in cool water, ideally in a large mesh laundry bag. Lay it flat to dry and reshape the petals while damp.
