Holiday Bedspread
Queen bedspread approx. 92 x 112 in (234 x 284 cm); squares approx. 10 in (25 cm)
Why you'll love it
- Bright white daisies on red make a cheerful, festive bedspread.
- Making the daisies separately lets you crochet them in batches while you travel.
- Puff-stitch leaves and moss stitch give each square rich, varied texture.
- The raised seams outline every square for a crisp, tailored look.
- A single round of shells creates a soft scalloped edge without extra fuss.

Gauge & finished measurements
Gauge: 16 dc and 9 rows = 4 in (10 cm) in worsted yarn with a 5.0 mm hook. Motif gauge: Rounds 1-6 measure about 5.5 in (14 cm) from side to side, and a finished square (Rounds 1-16) measures about 10 in (25 cm) square. The daisy measures about 3.5 in (9 cm) across.

Assembly
- 1
Make 99 squares (Rounds 1-16), checking that every side has 43 sc.
- 2
Make 99 daisies.
- 3
Weave in the ends and block each square to 10 x 10 in. Lightly steam the daisies flat.
- 4
Center a daisy on each square with 4 petals pointing toward the middle of the sides. Use the white tail to sew around the base of every petal, then add a stitch at each petal tip so the petals stay flat.
- 5
Lay out the squares in 11 rows of 9 and work the 10 horizontal seams, then the 8 vertical seams.
- 6
Work Border Rounds 1 and 2 around the entire bedspread.
- 7
Give the border a light final steam so the shells lie flat. Do not press the puffs.
Important notes
- Tip: This is an original pattern inspired by the photo. Hidden construction details, yarn weight, and dimensions are interpreted from the image, and the pattern has not been physically test-crocheted.
- Tip: Abbreviations (US terms): ch = chain, sc = single crochet, hdc = half double crochet, dc = double crochet, sl st = slip stitch, MR = magic ring, BLO = back loop only.
- Tip: The ch-3 at the start of a dc round counts as a dc. The ch 1 at the start of sc rounds and the ch 2 before a first puff do not count as stitches.
- Tip: Work all rounds with the right side facing; do not turn.
- Tip: Square stitch counts do not include the corner ch-2 spaces.
- Tip: Keep an odd number of squares along every edge so the border shell repeat works out evenly.
- Tip: Yarn amounts are estimates based on the stated gauge. A bedspread this size uses a large amount of yarn, so buy enough from one dye lot.
Pattern FAQ
Why make the daisies separately?
Separate daisies are quick to make in batches, easy to carry, and simple to position exactly. They also let the leaves start right in the middle of the square so they look as if they grow out from behind the flower.
How do I change the size?
Each square adds about 10 in. Use an odd number of squares on each edge, such as 7 x 11 for a twin or 11 x 11 for a king, so the border shells fit evenly.
My moss stitch frame is ruffling. What went wrong?
Ruffling usually means an extra ch-1 space or an extra sc on a side. Check the bracketed repeat count for each round and make sure you skip the corner sc at the start of each side.
Can I make it in other colors for everyday use?
Yes. Sage, navy, mustard, or dusty rose all work well with white or cream daisies. Keep the flower color light so it stands out against the square.
How should I wash it?
Follow the care label on your yarn. Most acrylic and blend yarns can be machine washed on a gentle cycle in cool water. Dry flat or tumble dry on low, and reshape the petals while damp.
