Assembly
- 1
Reindeer: sew the head to the body neck. Sew the ears to the sides at Rounds 6-8 and the antlers on top between them. Put the hat on at an angle and sew it in place, then sew a holly sprig (2 leaves, 3 berries) to the hat.
- 2
Limbs and props: sew the legs to the front bottom of the body with the soles forward. Sew the gingerbread man to the chest, then sew the arms so the hooves hold him. Wrap the scarf around the neck with one end hanging.
- 3
Seat the reindeer: place the reindeer on the bottom of the wreath and sew her base and back securely to the ring. Drape the scarf end over the ring.
- 4
Bow and loop: sew the bow to the top of the wreath just below the hanging loop.
- 5
Decorations: make 6 holly clusters (3 leaves, 3 berries each). Sew 2 at the top beside the bow, a large group with the pinecones and poinsettia on the upper left, and the rest down the right side. Hang the lantern on the right and tie the wooden tag to the upper left.
- 6
Dangles: thread a 14 mm wooden bead and a red bead onto red yarn for each dangle. Tie a tree at the left and right of the bottom and the snowflake in the center, with a bell under the snowflake.
Important notes
- Tip: This is an original pattern inspired by the photo. Hidden details are interpreted from the image, and the pattern has not been physically test-crocheted.
- Tip: Abbreviations (US terms): ch = chain, sc = single crochet, hdc = half double crochet, dc = double crochet, tr = treble crochet, sl st = slip stitch, MR = magic ring, BLO = back loop only, dec = decrease.
- Tip: Work all round pieces in continuous rounds with a stitch marker unless joining is stated. Flat pieces are worked in turned rows; the ch 1 does not count as a stitch.
- Tip: Dec: insert hook in the front loop of the next 2 stitches, yarn over and pull through both loops, yarn over and pull through 2 loops.
- Tip: This is a decoration, not a toy. The beads, bells, buttons, and safety eyes are choking hazards. Keep it out of reach of small children and pets.
Pattern FAQ
Can I use a hoop instead of a macramé ring?
Yes. The inner ring of a 9 in (23 cm) embroidery hoop works well. Cover it the same way.
Can I hang it outdoors?
It's best kept indoors or on a covered door. Rain and sun will fade the yarn and damage the wooden parts.
Can I make the lantern glow?
Yes. Use a mini battery LED or a fairy light bulb inside the lantern. Never use a real candle.
Can I skip the wooden sign?
Yes. Add another holly cluster in its place, or crochet a small tan rectangle and embroider your own message.
