Assembly
- 1
Weave in all ends and lightly block the dress, spreading the V-stitches and ruffles evenly.
- 2
Sew 2 flowers with leaves near each shoulder on the front bodice.
- 3
Sew 6 flowers with leaves evenly around the skirt, just above the mid ruffle.

- 5
Sew a flower and a small ribbon bow to the back waistband of the bloomers.
- 6
Sew the shoulder buttons securely and check that they fit the buttonholes.
Important notes
- Tip: This is an original pattern inspired by the photo. Hidden details are interpreted from the image, and the pattern has not been physically test-crocheted.
- Tip: Abbreviations (US terms): ch = chain, sc = single crochet, hdc = half double crochet, dc = double crochet, sl st = slip stitch, MR = magic ring, BLO = back loop only, dec = decrease.
- Tip: The ch 2 at the start of hdc rows does not count as a stitch. The ch 3 at the start of dc rounds counts as a dc.
- Tip: Sizing assumes a 3-6 month chest of about 17 in (43 cm). Babies vary, so measure if possible.
- Tip: Safety: buttons, beads, ribbons, and flowers can be choking hazards. Embroider flower centers instead of using beads for young babies, sew everything very securely, and always supervise babies wearing embellished clothing.
Pattern FAQ
Why does the dress button at the shoulders?
Shoulder buttons let the neckline open wide, so the dress goes on easily without pulling a tight opening over the baby's head.
How do I make the skirt longer?
Add V-stitch rounds before Round 7 for a longer upper skirt, or after Round 13 for a longer lower skirt. Each round adds about 0.4 in (1 cm).
Can I make the bloomers without ruffles?
Yes. Work Rounds 6, 8 and 10 through both loops and skip the ruffle tiers for plain bloomers.
How do I wash the set?
Hand wash or machine wash on a delicate cycle in a mesh bag with baby detergent. Lay flat to dry and reshape the ruffles while damp.
