Why you'll love it

  • A snowman sitting inside a wreath makes a charming, story-like decoration.
  • Crocheting over a padded metal ring gives a sturdy wreath that keeps its shape.
  • A wrapped chain cord creates a realistic rope look with very little effort.
  • Small pieces like the stocking, pinecone, and ornaments are quick and fun.
  • Gold bells add a gentle jingle when the door opens.

    Assembly

    1. 1

Snowman: sew the head to the body, add the nose and face details, and sew on the hat with the pompom falling to the right. Add 1 holly leaf and 3 berries to the hat.

    2. 2

Sew the feet to the front bottom of the body, the arms to the sides, and the gift box between the mittens. Wrap the scarf around the neck with one end hanging down on the right.

    3. 3

Seat the snowman on the bottom of the wreath ring so his feet hang just over the edge. Sew his body to the ring at the bottom and tack his back to the sides of the ring.

    4. 4

Bow: sew the bow to the top center of the ring and hang a 15 mm bell from its center.

    5. 5

Greenery: sew holly sprigs with berries on both sides of the bow and down the left side of the ring. Add the poinsettia, white flower, and pinecone on the left side.

    6. 6

Stocking: tie the stocking to the right side of the ring with its twine bow, and add a holly sprig above it.

    7. 7

Dangles: sew the two ornament cords to the bottom of the ring on either side of the snowman and the snowflake cord at the center.

    8. 8

Hanging loop: with red, ch 61 and sl st in the back bump of each ch (60). Thread a wooden bead onto it, fold it in half, and sew both ends to the top of the ring behind the bow. Add the second 15 mm bell to the bow if you like.

    Important notes

    • Tip: This is an original pattern inspired by the photo. Hidden details are interpreted from the image, and the pattern has not been physically test-crocheted.
    • Tip: Abbreviations (US terms): ch = chain, sc = single crochet, hdc = half double crochet, dc = double crochet, sl st = slip stitch, MR = magic ring, BLO = back loop only, dec = decrease (invisible single crochet decrease).
    • Tip: Small round pieces are worked in continuous rounds with a stitch marker. The bow, scarf, and tails are worked in turned rows; the turning chain does not count as a stitch.
    • Tip: Safety: safety eyes, beads, bells, and the metal ring are not suitable for young children or pets. Hang the wreath out of their reach.

    Pattern FAQ

Can I use a wooden embroidery hoop instead of a metal ring?

Yes. Use the inner ring of a 7 in wooden embroidery hoop. Pad it the same way and crochet over it.

How do I keep the snowman from tipping forward?

Stuff him lightly so his back is flat, then sew his body to the bottom of the ring and add a few stitches from his back to the ring on each side.

Can I make it without the dangles?

Yes. The wreath looks complete without them. You can sew the ornaments and snowflake onto the ring instead.

How do I clean and store it?

Spot clean with a damp cloth and let it air dry. Store it flat in a box with tissue paper so the bow, holly, and snowman keep their shape.
