Why you'll love it
- The Santa coat is worked as part of the body, so there is less sewing.
- Front-loop rounds add a fluffy hem, collar, and cuffs without separate pieces.
- A flat base lets her sit steadily on a shelf or mantel.
- Tabby stripes, whiskers, and a curled tail give her real cat charm.
- She is easy to customize to look like a family cat.
Materials needed

Gauge & finished measurements
Gauge: 20 sc and 22 rounds = 4 in (10 cm) in worsted yarn with a 3.5 mm hook. Head gauge: Rounds 1-9 measure about 3.4 in (8.5 cm) across when flat. Tight stitches matter more than exact gauge.

Assembly
- 1
Head: center the head on the neck with the face forward and sew it on firmly, adding stuffing to the neck as you close.
- 2
Ears: sew the ears to the top of the head at about Rounds 6-10, angled slightly outward.
- 3
Front legs: sew the flat tops of the front legs to the front of the body just below the collar, so the paws rest on the surface in front of the body.
- 4
Back feet: sew the back feet to the sides of the base so they peek out under the hem.
- 5
Tail: sew the tail to the back of the body just above the hem, and curl it up and around one side.
- 6
Hat: place the hat on the head tilted to one side, covering one ear. Sew around the brim, let the tip fall to the side, and sew on the pompom.
Important notes
- Tip: This is an original pattern inspired by the photo. Hidden details are interpreted from the image, and the pattern has not been physically test-crocheted.
- Tip: Abbreviations (US terms): ch = chain, sc = single crochet, sl st = slip stitch, MR = magic ring, BLO = back loop only, dec = decrease (invisible single crochet decrease).
- Tip: Work all round pieces in continuous rounds with a stitch marker. The trims are joined rounds, and the placket is worked in turned rows; the ch 1 does not count as a stitch.
- Tip: Safety: safety eyes, the pipe cleaner, and pellets are not suitable for children under 3. For young children, embroider the eyes and leave out the pipe cleaner and pellets.
Pattern FAQ
How do I make the white trim look fluffy?
Use a soft boucle or brushed yarn for the white parts, or gently brush finished white acrylic with a pet slicker brush to raise a soft halo.
Can I make the hat removable?
Yes. Instead of sewing the hat all the way around, tack it at two points, or leave it loose. It fits snugly over the head and one ear.
My kitten tips forward. What can I do?
Stuff the base firmly and add a small pellet pouch to the bottom. Sew the front legs so the paws rest on the surface and help support the body.
How do I clean her?
Spot clean with a damp cloth and mild soap, and let her air dry. Avoid machine washing if you used a pipe cleaner or pellets.
